A goody bag of tweets covering many different types of vintage London Underground posters, many dating back to the very early days of the tube. This post was originally prepared in 2017, which explains why tweets only go up to that year. A new post has been done with those after 2017 and any that may have been missed out. One can of course do a Twitter search but it means searching and searching and sorting the wheat from the chaff! Let it be said creating these compilations are very time consuming!
There is an exhibition currently on show in Chicago, and that has prompted a number of new tweets and pictures on the subject of historic tube posters. That exhibition also prompted the uploading of this two year old as yet unpublished post!
The Art Institute of Chicago began collecting tube posters as early as 1919, and today they have around 350 in total. It must be one of the largest collections of tube posters outside of the London Transport Museum.
